This work explores the separation of families due to incarceration and comments on the prison of our own homes. The subjects in the image are overwhelmed with the environment they are in and feel trapped within these patterns.

“No Ground Left to Stand on: imprisonment and assimilation” oil on paper 35″x40″ 2011Created as part of a two poster project for The Prison Divestment Campaign. This work explores the connection of major banks with private prison corporations and furthermore comments on the private prison all of society is attached to through the monetary and economic system of banking. In this series i chose to blend the subjects legs into the surrounding environment to further the feeling of helplessness in an abyss of discomfort. The color choices are meant to make the viewer melancholy, anxious, and possibly nauseous.
